What is Volat?
Volat is a Latin word for equipped to fly, or charting a trajectory. Volat Law carries with it the promise and spirit to give wings (and some wind beneath them) to small business owners and their dreams. With Attorney Nicole Hetz’s support, it will be just a little easier and a whole lot less scary to reach high and take the leap you need in business and in life.
Fun fact: The motto for Oregon is “Alis Volat propriis” which means “she flies with her own wings”
Nicole comes from a diverse background in business law, with experience practicing in both Argentina and the United States.
She spends her time providing general business law advice to small and medium sized businesses, with a special emphasis on new entrepreneurs. She regularly advises clients on ownership matters, control and management issues surrounding partnerships or joint ventures. She specializes in contract law which comes in handy when her clients are about to sign a commercial lease, create a contract for their service or simply review a contract. She also supports her clients in obtaining trademark registrations on a federal level which allows her to have clients from all over the US.

She has been a legal coach for Oregon Pride in Business (Oregon’s queer chamber of commerce) Incubator program where she supported businesses that needed assistance with different areas such as legal planning and issue spotting, business development and growth. Nicole managed a team of volunteers who specialize in marketing and branding, diversity, equity and inclusion, financial strategy and business coaching overall.
She has served as a Board Member to this organization where they envision an economically empowered Oregon LGBTQ+ business community that inspires others. Nicole also volunteers at Skate Like a Girl which is an organization whose mission is to create an inclusive community by promoting confidence, leadership, and social justice through the sport of skateboarding.
